Being a blogger

Similar to these flowers, blogging is about nurturing and growing one's self.
Back in my teen's I used Tumblr, to inspire and look up to people similar to me which had the same interests and ideals. I stopped using it because I only used it to reblog and like stuff; which is fine, but I feel like I'm more of a creator.
I decided to do a personal blog post because, well this is a blog & I would love to share more. Since joining the fashion blogger community this year (2014) in Jan / Feb I mainly posted about beauty products because I wasn't confident to stand in front of a camera and have my full length picture taken. It wasn't just about that if I'm honest but you'll soon read on.
I have put together a collection of thoughts and points to do with my experience and ideas of blogging.
Why Blog?
Thankfully, no-one has EVER asked me this question. There are a lot of reasons why someone would like to open up a Wordpress or Tumblr account, both personal or business reasons.
For me, blogging is a way to express, to show people a little bit more of myself that may take more time to come up in conversation. It's an easy gateway into someone's life without ever being present in it.. I hope I am not freaking you out right now.
My point is, who cares why you blog, never question your solid intentions and beliefs as this will one day be your biggest asset.
Online diary
I am unsure if young girls keep diaries these days, but when I was young I kept A LOT! I'd fill one up within a few months. I had furry ones, cute ones and outrageous ones. I'm a bit bummed that I never took photographs of them before I binned them. Yep, I got rid of mine. Mainly because it was embarrassing and I was very young. Unlike my diary I started blogging this year, so I'm 25 now and I'm a mature lady. It was only the other day when I realised that every single post I was putting up was like a mini diary entry. It was electronically dated and the words from the screen were fresh from that day.
Then I started to think, imagine in 10/15 years time when technology has increased significantly; my blog will be floating around somewhere, almost like a flip book of fashion styles throughout the seasons and years. But, I want to hold onto my blog and be continuously proud of it.
Remember when you would find photo's of your parents with perms and dodgy dungaree's? Well that'll be us!
Thinking up a genre for your blog.
I don't know if I will offend anyone here but, if you have to sit down and really 'think' of what kind of blog you want to make (be that beauty, fashion, lifestyle, sports, education etc) then I doubt you'll last long enough. When I first made my blog I wanted to show my interests to you all, to join in the conversation and 'belong' if you may. I stumbled on many beauty blogs and loved how sharing reviews and experiences was fun but also good - HINT; you don't waste time and money on products you don't need.
Fashion and style are in my everyday life; not just because I adore shoes and bags and cute little tee's but because I actually work in fashion. I need to know about trends and fashionable goings-on, and I never get bored. I don't know how many times I can find a cute pair of shoes and get obsessed, it's honestly a big problem.
When I did make my blog, I really really really wanted to make it more all about fashion because it is something I love so dearly, but I was so scared to show people 'me'. When I finally took a few shots I realised it's not all that bad.
As time went by I took more and more photographs, getting a little bit more creative and adventurous. After months of taking OOTD pictures in my living room, I bared it all outdoors. Not only was I showing the internet pictures of my head to toe looks, I was also shooting them outside of my front door ( I don't have a garden). After this, I literally gained a lot of confidence ( not in an obnoxious way) as I was doing a photo shoot in my cul-de sac. I'm not as shy anymore as I see myself to be more about self-expression. My eagerness to blog about fashion made me become this person I am today.
Anyways, my point for this part is that you should really love what you blog about. Don't think you have to be a certain way, things will fall into place and you'll end up where you like to be by letting it. Also, your blog can change, just like it's writer (that's you) we all change, as we get older our views with go in another direction. But we can always look back on our blogs to remember those old thoughts and intentions.
