Taylor Swift 1989 Review
13:21:00
I love Taylor Swift & when I got her album for Christmas I was pretty excited; also because I a 1989 child too! Go back in time about 9/10 years ago and all of my christmas wish lists were just albums, I love getting the album artwork and the lyric booklet, for me CD's will never go out of fashion. I really love music and the power it has to help through times in your life. Music is 100% my therapy, I love a lot of rock and pop punk music and I grew up with bands such as The Used and Taking Back Sunday. Here's a little story of how I got into the music that still holds my heart to this day...
Remember Virgin Records? (WOW what a life time ago right?) Well, one summer I was in the store looking through some chart music when a song came on that felt like love to my ears. I scurried around looking for an assistant as I needed to buy this piece of music BADLY. So, I found out that it was a band called New Found Glory, and over 10 years on I still really love their music. Continuing my story, I used to have a paper round (how funny) and I played their album on repeat every morning and afternoon on my walkman CD player (retro story here). I guess what it is I'm saying is, I bloody love music :)
And if you are wondering what song I heard in the store that day it was 'I don't Wanna Know'. You can listen to it here.
Anyway, here is my review of Taylor Swift 1989;
Welcome To New York - This is an upbeat fun tune. I can imagine it working well as a dance re-mix and it's just a fun soundtrack of her life.
Favorite Line: The lights are so bright but they never blind me.
Blank Space - As soon as I heard this song I was actually in love, the beat is badass and so is the song. I'm really feeling Taylor's attitude here & it's fun and joke-y which is BADASS!
Favorite Line: 'Cause, darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream.
Style - This song is so classy and cool, I just love the lyrics & the feel of it. Of course Taylor sings a lot about love and this song is a great love song about always holding feelings for that one person where you know you fit well.
Favorite Line: 'Cause you got that James Dean daydream look in your eye and I got that red lip classic thing that you like.
Out Of The Woods - This is one of my favorite tracks from the album, it's got a really good beat and it's really upbeat. I love the meaning of the songs & the lyrics are really meaningful.
Favorite Line: The rest of the world was black and white but we were in screaming color.
All You Had To Do Was Stay - The chorus is my favorite part of this songs, it's catchy and it's a little bit different for Taylor, which I love by the way.
Favorite Line: People like you always want back the love they gave away.
Shake It Off - When this was released I remember people taking a lot of hate on this and you know what, this song is COOL! It's like an open letter to say 'I know you hate me but, I'm not gonna let you get to me" and I love that kind of attitude. At the end of the day not everyone will like you and some hate you because they love to hate you, so don't let their hate ruin your vibes.
Favorite Line: I got this music in my mind saying, "It's gonna be alright."
I wish you would - The music behind this track IS SO DAM AWESOME. For some strange reason this song motivates me, even though it's about wishing but..yeah! Good vibes and cheerful!
Favorite Line: Windows down, you pass my street, the memories start.
Bad Blood - This song is just, a right tune! The beat, the lyrics & the emotion in this song is just gripping. It's a song that you play when you just know you want to let off some steam.
Favorite Line: So don’t think it's in the past, these kinda wounds they last and they last now.
Wildest Dreams - This song is dreamy, the beat and the vocals. One of my favorite songs from TS is Enchanted & this song really reminds me of it.
Favorite Line: Say you'll see me again, even if it's in your wildest dreams.
How You Get The Girl - 1989 is definitely a different kind of sound, but this song reminds me of her old stuff which is nice to have and I really love the meaning of this song, it's so sweet.
Favorite Line: Remind me how it used to be. Pictures in frames of kisses on cheeks.
This Love - This song isn't as good as others but it's a nice chilled out song that is nice to fall asleep to as it's relaxing and her voice is so sweet.
Favorite Line: This love left a permanent mark, this love is glowing in the dark.
I know places - I really really like this song. It's obviously about her limelight in the media about her relationships; I do feel bad for her always being judged about it. But she obviously knows how to hide some stuff in here life and she's putting it out there.
Favorite Line: Love's a fragile little flame, it could burn out.
Clean - Again, I love this track and I love the beat - it sounds dreamy and soothing.
Favorite Line: Just because you're clean don't mean you don't miss it.
What do you think of the art work and if you've listened to the album, what's your favorite track? x
