Inhale judgement, exhale kindness..

Think before spreading hate.

Listening to Radio 1 breakfast is my ultimate morning thing to do. It puts me in such a good mood, it's light hearted and so funny. Last week (I believe in Thursday or Wednesday) Grimmy spoke to a YouTuber called Chris who presents a late night show on Radio 1 along with other famous bloggers.

He was on the breakfast show to talk about hate around the internet and to make a #NicerInternet which I thought was a great topic to cover. This got me thinking, although I directly have not received hate (i'm sure it will come along the way) I see it a lot. Most of the hate is on YouTube & these so called trolls.

Today I just want to talk about my opinions on this matter and what I would do if I received hate comments on social media.

You can judge all you like.
First thing is first, we all judge one another - it's human nature (you can't really stop it). So, we are all aware that we can judge and be judged; but why the need to express your individual opinion onto someone else in a hateful way?!
Most likely the hate comments that people write are down to typing before thinking about the thought throughly. It's so quick to type a sentence and hit enter - a 30 second hate impulse just ruined someones day, now that's pretty upsetting!

No consequence.
From my last point about hating on impulse, there is no consequence from a hate message (at least not from the sender). More than not the person will never return to that page therefore they won't see how they upset someone or how bad they came across (or maybe they just love to see what their hate spills over).
Obviously not everyone hates on impulse, some do it for the reaction - my only guess is that it's never happened to them so they won't know what it's like.

It spreads like a disease.
Scrolling through my favorite YouTube music videos I see a lot of people fighting over the most stupidest things ever, people see it as entertainment and this just makes the issue worsen and spread. I think it's safe to say that if you don't see a troll or you don't see someone thrashing their words to another via YouTube then that's pretty rare. Most of the top comments are trolls - I find this so tiring.

How I would react to someone spreading hate / how others have.
There has been some really cool stories of people facing the bullies & even telling their mothers that their son / daughter has been abusive online. Which is so amazing, I mean little kids are using foul language to grown ups? They need to be taught.
I sometimes think that ignoring these people is the best medicine, when I get ignored I absolutely hate it. It drives me mad, obviously I've not wrote hate on someones blog or whatever but the point is that no one likes to be ignored.

Why and how did this all start?
I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to this - I do however think that people react to other people's lives more than anything else. YouTube, blogs, social media are all platforms for people to express themselves, which is great. But along comes the not so great..
I think that people like to make themselves feel better by degrading another person,  like somehow their comment makes them more superior because they dislike that person. I mean, it's okay to dislike someone but you don't need to express that right?

What to do if you are thinking of leaving a horrible comment..
simply think through your opinion and I think, if you think long enough you may actually find something nice to say. Brighten up someone's day because the internet need nicer people! x

I would love to hear your thoughts below x
