A healthier breakfast option from Freedom Cereals, with low GI and wheat-free
17:55:00I love anything to do with being healthier, I feel like it's my lifelong goal, always in the back of my mind. Starting the day with a good breakfast is prime to losing weight, while giving you the energy until lunch time comes around. I'm always looking for ways to make my breakfast fun, inviting, and of course healthy, from porridge pots to a fruit bowl with yogurt.
Recently, Freedom Cereals Ltd got in touch with me, about their new product Keep Me Going, a cereal that is suitable for all the family. They were kind enough to send me a few boxes to try! Read below for some interesting information on giving yourself a healthier breakfast experience!
What is Keep Me Going Cereal?
Keep Me Going is a brand of cereal from Freedom Cereals Ltd, a small company that wants to aid the entire family (including children) to eat a healthier breakfast, cutting out all the unnecessary salts and sugars. Due to it being healthier than Special K and your average instant porridge, Keep My Going has 8 times less salt; 60% less sugar; twice the fibre; and a low Gi, making this an all-round healthier option!
This Cereal is great for the entire family, especially children, as I feel that child obesity is becoming an underlying problem that will effect the next generation. Freedom Cereals Ltd has a cool concept to entice its younger audience, with collectable trading cards inside each box, each card has a country flag and on the reverse is some cool facts about the country, where you can rank each country in order of population. For some extra fun, the flap on the pack of cereal contains a hidden code which, if cracked, takes you to an off-menu page on the website with lots more information to endeavour!
Freedom Cereal have put a lot of effort into their brand, making it clear that they want to encourage a healthier lifestyle by starting the day off in the best way, without tones of sugar and salt. At the moment, the cereal can only be purchased via Ocado, however I have been informed that it will become available in some major supermarkets in the coming future!
Freedom Cereal are also bringing out a new range called Keep Me Strong, to aid you when working out, giving you all the nutrients you need! So keep an eye out on their website!
How does it taste?
I have eaten my bowls of Keep Me Going with semi skimmed milk, the look of the cereal isn't the most appealing, but to make the cereal fun, I would probably recommend adding some chopped fruit. The cereal tastes a little like Sherddies, its easy to eat and doesn't really taste of anything. The puff pouches have air inside of them, which means there is no added flavour (and no added nasties).
The flavour-less cereal doesn't exactly bother me, as I hate sweet things early in the morning, and this is a nice 'get up and go' type of cereal. I'm going to start adding this cereal into my little fruit bowls I make for work, as a dry snack on the go!
Why not check out Freedom Cereal on Twitter or Facebook? Or buy a box from Ocado for only £2.65!
Have you tried Keep Me Going? What's your favourite cereal?
