Clothes Show Live 2014

Birmingham Clothes Show Live at The NEC 2014.

This year's Clothes Show Live seemed to have a different vibe about it. The last time that I went it was in 2012 and I didn't think that the stalls were anything to be impressed by, but I loved the actual catwalk show. Looking around the stalls this year I felt that they upped their game - of course the usual bargain beauty stalls were there (new post coming soon on something cool I purchased) but in terms of vintage stalls and trendy fashion outlets - it was on point. Jamie Lang's Candy Kittens was there, along with In The Style and Public Desire. I love that In The Style, Public Desire and a few others were there because they are e-commerce fashion sites and do not have shops! So this made it totally exclusive to get to see products face to face. I was really impressed with Public Desire, I feel that they are just.. amazing!

Now on to the main show, the catwalk.
Last time I went to the Clothes Show I remember it being more of a production or telling a story which I found refreshing and entertaining! This year was no exception, from an array of choreography from office workers to spooky gothic dark-side fantasy looks.

My interpretation of the catwalk is a mixture of entertainment trends to seasonal attire. From autumn park settings, fairground summertime fun, busy cityscapes, beach ready bodies, snow queen and a dark fantasy style setting.
It's great to mix in seasons and other trends because seasons come and go each year, but to then add in other trends to fit with it worked really well. At one point the models were carrying Disney toys such as Mickey mouse and the one eyed green creature from Monsters Inc.
The clothes were stunning, some more than others and my favorite section from the Clothes Show was the dark fantasy style outfits. I love lace and gothic inspired pieces and I love how outrageous some of the looks were - it's great to just have a lot of fun with fashion!

What was your favorite part? x
